Icare

This book tells the story of Daedalus and Icarus (Icare). The original Latin text from Book Eight of Ovid's "Metamorphoses" moves through the book in a series of waves. A wing constructed using found seagull feathers, wax, string and sticks opens with the book at the point in which Ovid describes Daedalus' fateful warning to his son not fly too close to the sea or sun.  Only a few tatty feathers remain at the end during Daedalus' lament for his lost child.

Inkjet printed vellum, 180 gsm card, maple sticks, found seagull feathers, wax, string.  2020.
