Vanity

Vanity falls under the umbrella of Pride, the root of all sins. Not just limited to appearance, beauty, and futile attempts to stop the hands of time, Vanity is a self-obsession and an unyielding need for attention and recognition. Praise be the Selfie. It is a fixation on the superficial and temporary traits of oneself and a constant need to compare oneself to others while always coming out on top. Vanity is only validated when seen, adored, envied. All achievements are crowning achievements in the self-absorbed eyes of Vanity. With its inflated sense of self-importance, drawing out one’s own Narcissus and Dorian Gray, even rearing its gorgeous little head in virtue signaling and posturing, Vanity makes a sinner out of even the most righteous.

This altered book has been properly edited, redacting all but I, me, my, and any other forms of self. Some redactions are mirrored providing ample opportunity to gaze into one’s own eyes while reading such important and enlightening words. The endsheets have a mirrored finish, and tiny mirrors grace the iridescent blue to purple covers. Reading has never been more wonderfully sinful.

Altered book, 2025.
