Seven Deadlies
Hardcover copies of Seven Deadlies written by Gigi Levangie were altered to represent each of the seven mortal sins:
Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Sloth, Vanity, and Wrath

According to Christian teachings the seven deadly sins, Vanity, Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Greed, Envy, and Wrath, go against God’s law and God’s love. These capital sins are considered the most dangerous because they represent a fundamental moral failing. The Seven Deadly Sins easily and readily open the door to other sins, and are often deeply entwined in each other, making it difficult to tease them apart.
The Seven Deadly Sins are deeply rooted in the human psyche. Whether we like it or not, we are all guilty of every single one of them to some degree. The challenge before us becomes what to do next. Do we remain perched atop our moral high ground seeing only sin in others, perpetuating the vitriol and harsh judgement that continues to unravel our social fabric? Or, do we look our own sins in the eye and change vice to virtue?
While creating this body of work, I realized that although each of us can take ownership of any and all of these mortal sins, we also hold their virtues. I am filled with the hope that these virtues will prevail, bringing light back into this dark time of our nation’s history.
